Charity Tandem Skydive in aid of Herts Air Ambulance

Unlike NHS emergency services, Herts Air Ambulance, part of the Essex & Herts Air Ambulance Trust is a Charity providing a free life-saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) for the critically ill and injured of Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas.

Each HEMS Team consists of a Pilot, a Pre-hospital Care Doctor and a Critical Care Paramedic who can be rushed to the scene of an incident with life-saving support equipment to deliver advanced clinical care that is normally only found in the Hospital Emergency Department. Once stabilised, the patient will be conveyed by air or land to the most appropriate hospital for their needs.

Deployed on average 1-2 times a day, the HEMS Team is most commonly dispatched to patients with serious illness or injury caused by such incidents as traffic collisions, falls from height, heart attacks, stabbings, cardiac arrests and stroke.

The helicopter is based at North Weald Airfield and is operational 7 days a week from 7.00am to 9.00pm or sunset whichever occurs first.

With no direct funding from the Government or National Lottery the charity rely solely upon the generosity and goodwill of the people and businesses of Hertfordshire to remain operational and keep saving lives.
