Charity Tandem Skydive in aid of the Cavell Nurses Trust

Cavell Nurses’ Trust is the charity that provides support and financial help to UK nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants suffering hardship often because of illness, disability, older age and domestic abuse.

Doing a charity tandem skydive for Cavell ensures that the money you raise will, for example

• help cover the cost of increased utility bills for an elderly nurse

• help towards rent and furnishings for a nurse escaping an abusive partner

• help to provide clothing for a nurse who has lost weight after serious illness

The charity surveyed over 2000 nurses, midwives and HCAs and found that they are twice as likely to suffer financial hardship than the public and that they are three times more likely to face domestic abuse. Also 42% of nursing professionals have a physical or mental illness expected to last a year or more.

The findings are worrying and spotlight the day to day pressures that nurses are dealing with outside of work but, despite all this, nurses are getting on with the vital job of caring for all of us. They help our children into the world and care for us when we’re dying. They’re here for us with care and compassion at the darkest and the brightest moments in our lives.

So, you can see there is a real need to support these amazing people.
