Learn to Skydive

One of the questions we are often asked, is what is the difference between the different skydiving courses that we offer. All courses are available to people who have no previous skydiving or parachuting experience, however your motivation for doing the jump may influence your choice of course.

If you are looking to experience the thrill of skydiving maybe for charity or as a one off experience, with minimal training, then the Tandem Skydive course would the most appropriate choice. After just 30 minutes of ground training you are ready to go! If however you would like the added satisfaction of doing the jump all by yourself or are maybe considering taking up skydiving as a hobby, then a Static Line Parachute Jump or Accelerated Free Fall Skydive course would be better. Both of these courses require a minimum of 6 hours of training and once you have completed your first jump, you can then return and make additional jumps which take you through a structured progression system with the aim of you becoming a qualified skydiver. and gaining your British Skydiving (BS) A Licence which is recognised world wide.

Below is a summary of the different types of skydiving courses we offer, all of which are available as gift vouchers:

Tandem Skydive
The most popular method. After just 30 mins of training you get to jump out strapped to an instructor from 10,000 - 15,000 feet and experience the thrill of free fall. This type of jump is great for the more nervous flyers as it is the Tandem Instructor that is in control.

Static Line Parachute Jump
Here you would complete a minimum of 6 hours ground training and then jump either the same or following day weather permitting. You jump solo from a height of approximately 3,500 feet and your parachute deploys automatically. The canopy ride lasts 3 – 5 minutes where you are in complete control and are responsible for navigating yourself back to the ground.

Accelerated Free Fall Skydive (AFF)
Here you complete a minimum of 6 hours training and then jump with 2 instructors from 12,000 – 15,000 feet. You are freefalling for 45 seconds – 1 minute and then deploy your canopy at 6,000 feet under the supervision of your instructors. As with Static Line, the canopy ride lasts 3 – 5 minutes where you are in complete control and are responsible for navigating yourself back to the ground. Depending on the centre there are options for just signing up for an AFF Level 1 Skydive or the Full AFF Course (consists of 8 jumps).
